Japanese Wwii Soldier Attacks Fort Kutani Sake Cup Rare
This auction is for a rare and very pretty japanese wwii era military sake cup made by kutani. The bowl of the cup is decorated with a japaense soldier attacking a chinese fortress and cherry blossoms. The soldiers uniform, canteen, backpack, helmet, and rifle are outlined in gold.
The double rows of vertical kanji on the outside of the cup read shina jihen (china incident) and gaisen kinen (triumphal reutrn commemorative). The soldier's name, kimoto, appears on the opposite side of the cup. The center of the base is marked in red kanji, kutani. The cup measures approximately 2 across x 1 1/8 high. There are no chips, cracks or repairs on this rare japanese wwii sake cup which is in excellent condition. All sales are final so if you have questions please email me prior to bidding.
